Flagstaff is known for its higher elevation (7000 feet) and it is only about 2 hours and 20 minutes North of Phoenix. There is a great ride (road bikes) that leaves every Saturday morning from the “Pay and Take” bar in downtown Flagstaff. During the summer the ride leaves at 9:00 am. Usually about 40-60 people. Winters, the ride leaves at 10 am. Usually about 8-10 people. During extreme winter, the riders that live up there usually meet down in Sedona and ride. It’s usually just an email string for the Sedona rides as its extremely weather dependent. Just ask a bike shop up in that area what the deal is – or if you can’t get a straight answer, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to find out for you the time they leave.
Tons of mountain biking in Flagstaff + always fun to climb the 6 mile paved road up to the top of Snow Bowl in the summer (don’t bother in the winter unless you have ski’s attached to your bike wheels). I believe you are at about 8000+ feet when you reach the ski resort on your bike.
