So you know what Radioshack is, you know what Garmin is, you know what BMC is (well I hope you do?), so do you know what SKY is? No it’s not the vodka. Not sure what to do with myself now that the Tour is over. Oh wait, the Olympics in London is THIS SATURDAY! So if I have this correct, the Olympic Road race (Men’s) is THIS Saturday July 28th. Women’s road race is Sunday July 29th. Time trial for both men and women is August 1st. Then we have a cross country mountain bike race (men’s and women’s), indoor track (mens and women’s), and BMX (mens and women’s).
** By the way, the road race course has a 21% grade section called “Box Hill” !! They have to race a total of 250 kilometers and up that damn hill 9 times!!! Better set your TIVO !! Oh yea, British team = Cavendish, Wiggens, Froom, and David Millar – yikes. USA has their work cut out for them.
No points awarded last week for B or A group at the UC. Had a crash in the B group with 2 laps to go. Someone’s rear wheel slid out on Turn 3 and three people locked up brakes and went down. 2 were ok. Scott McKeon – who has been leading the point series for the B group fell hard and separated his shoulder. Surgery this Wednesday for him. 1st major injury since we started the UC in April of 2011 (pretty good stat considering we have had over 6358 riders come through the UC since 2011 – yes I did the math.). Scott is in good spirits and asked me when the UC point series is over? Uh, hope that doesn’t mean he thinks he’s going to ride Tuesday with a separated shoulder?
2 more Tuesdays and then the points series is done. Sorry for the short email – Timmy sleepy from the drugs from knee surgery. By the way, for those of you that have had a surgery before, the drugs they give you before they wheel you into the operating room? Holy cow, how do I get some of those to go ?? SEE YOU TONIGHT !!! SE corner of 7th Street and Deer Valley! 6:30 B group / 7:15 A group.

You see in the tour why 30 riders, all at once got flats 2 stages ago??? Are you not watching??!! Whats wrong with you! By the way, I will go out on a limb and tell you the guy in yellow right now will not win. He will lose big time and concede the yellow on a mountain stage coming up! Thats my call!
Hey guys – I got word a few weeks ago that a tri girl Shayna Weitzman got hit over around the South Mountain area. It was a hit and run and then the lady who hit her drove down the road, hid her car in some bushes and lit it on fire to conceal the evidence? UNREAL!!
Story on “notonemorecyclist.com”.
By the way, it happened on reservation land. Last place you ever want to get hit is on reservation land. Last place you ever want to get a ticket is on reservation land – different laws, different rules, tribal council, etc. So not only do I have to be careful with cars, not I have to be careful where I ride? Fantastic.
azroadcyclist.com = If you ride in the Biltmore area – also be careful!
I was in Colorado all last week for the Double Triple Bypass – congrats to my fellow buddies / UC riders who went with me and who finished it.
Also, if you can, get out of the heat, go ride in California or Colorado. In Colorado, you can pay 25-30 bucks for an all day lift pass, go up the ski lift with your mountain bike (or you can rent one) and hit the downhill all day long – pretty sweet! California racing in full effect and lots of action in Oregon too! Take the family! Go mountain bike in Moab Utah!
Oh yes, I have showed some people this but racing in Texas is quite nuts as well:
http://vimeo.com/43947788 = fair warning, lots of drunk / half naked people! Eric Marcotte = 28 seconds in on the front in blue and white and sorry ladies, he’s not naked.
I am having knee surgery Thursday. Its at like 5 a.m. – I really don’t want to have to wake my wife up to take me that early. You think it will freak out the surgeon if I ride to the surgery center and show up in the operating room in spandex?

Have you guys seen how some of the tour riders like Mark Cavendish are wearing those dorky looking super small helmets? I guess since they are smaller in the front, it allows more airflow under the helmet and out the back – effectively creating less drag which can give up to a 2 bike length advantage when going extremely fast on a 600 meter sprint? 2 bike lengths?? Wow! I think Tuesday I”m going to replace my helmet with a small ice cream cone.
** By the way, I’m currently riding in Vail Colorado at 12000 feet so this will be short – just like my oxygen intake on the bike today. I’m here for the “double – triple bypass ride” – just doing sag this year for some buddy’s. I did it last year – just insane. 21,000 feet of climbing at an average altitude of 8000-12000 feet, over 4 mountains, total of 244 miles and about 20 hours on the bike. Sells out every year in about 28 minutes – 6000 riders. If you ever feel like killing yourself, go try it. Personally I would rather pull every hair out of my body slowly with tweezers than do that ride again – its much less painful.
Uh.. there’s another junior camp up in Flagstaff again. Is Flagstaff like the mecca for junior camps or what? They should do an old guys camp at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas. I would go to that.
Ok – gotta go climb 30 miles up Vail and make my self vomit. Vail makes South Mountain look like a speed bump.

**Remember, if it is raining at your house, it may not be raining at the UC!! Still your call if you want to come out. We ride in 112 degree heat so why not a few sprinkles? (now if it lightning, thundering, giant haboo with 70 mile per hour winds, and a few tornado’s – uh don’t show up. We’ll just drive over to Sonic and enjoy some slushy’s)
** NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER email, text, call, or tell a cyclist what happened in the Tour each day WITHOUT ASKING THEM FIRST IF THEY HAVE SEEN TODAYS STAGE !!! Most of us tape it in the morning and watch it at night. Feel free to smack anyone at the UC if they spoil what happened.
** If you are not watching the Tour daily, what the heck is wrong with you? It’s free on the internet every day??
Do you know what these jerseys mean in the Tour?
Yellow Jersey
Green Jersey
Polka Dot Jersey
White Jersey
** By the way, six hundred thousand Euro’s to the winner of the yellow at the end of all 21 days – uh thats a lot of dough!
**Each stage winner gets like Eleven thousand Euros = uh thats a lot of dough too.
** other jersey winners at the end of the 21 days gets like Forty thousand Euros = uh still a lot of dough.
** They are averaging so far 120 miles a day in each stage? Say what?? And I complain about going in circles at the UC for 40 minutes?
